Penni Layne & the Wonder Boys is a nine-piece R&B / Soul / Jazz band. With original songs featured on 92.5 the River and performances in clubs and festivals around New England, they have fine-tuned a “soul” sound all their own. Layne’s vocals, the tight rhythm section, and slick horn arrangements have made many compare them to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Gladys Knight, Diana Krall, and Aretha Franklin. They have multiple releases across all major streaming formats, as well as highly produced music videos that have garnered world wide attention.
Penni began her professional career as a teen performing all over the Washington, DC area, including the White House, the Pentagon, and Mt. Vernon. She performed at The TD Garden, The Wang Center, The Hynes Convention Center, and Boston Symphony Hall as well as a number of regional clubs. The Wonder Boys, also all Berklee College grads, have collectively performed for many years and in a variety of settings together.
